Position piece [a] between the handle and footrest pieces [b] until the bolt holes align.

Insert the bolts into the holes.

Hammer dowel [d] through the bottom hole of each pair as shown in the picture.

Ensure that the dowel sticks out the same amount each side.

Flip the swinging seesaw frame over so that the ends of the bolts are pointing upwards.

Add a washer and nut to each bolt.

Finger-tighten the nuts just enough so that the handle and footrest section can still easily pivot.
Then add a second nut to each bolt. Tighten each second nut against the first. This locks the nuts together and prevents any nut from vibrating off with movement.

Nail through the edge of pieces [b] into the dowel.

Hang the swinging seesaw unit from a beam.

Refer to the plans for a drawing of the rope positions.

Ensure that the underside of piece [a] is at least 400mm (16") off the ground.

There are plans for a swing support frame here .

I just completed the seesaw swing, It's a great project, plans were easy to follow with clear diagrams and photos. I made a few minor changes, first adding support under the seat on each side of the 2X4 using cast off - just pieces about 6" long to give a wider base to place the seat. Rather than an octagon shaped seat, I shaped the seat closer to a bicycle type. Finally, I shortened the overall length from 8' to 6', I wanted my smaller grandchildren to enjoy this without having too much momentum in the swing.
