Start Woodworking Quickly With This Basic Toolbox

If you’ve found this article then you’re probably already interested in woodworking.

Which also means you probably already know that you can’t exactly just start woodworking you need to do some planning and preparation first.

There’s two main things you need to get started: a space to work, and a selection of tools. A space to work is for you to figure out: we have an article to help with that though.

Choosing tools to get started is another matter.

There’s loads of different options, lots of research to do, and it’s generally just a pain in the rear.

That’s where this article comes in. We’ve done all the research, we’ve compared all the options, and we’ve come to conclusions – all so that you don’t have to.

Following is a list of what tools you’ll need, specific suggestions for each tool, and where you can get your hands on them. Easy peasy lemon squeezy, let’s get to it!

Start Your Woodworking Toolbox

Here’s a list of the tools we suggest you get before starting. It’s pretty reasonable, a good mix of hand tools and power tools. It’s a good starting point to get you up and running, perfect for working on your first woodworking projects.

You’ll see a lot of these suggestions are really simple (hammers and levels for example), you might even have some laying around your home already.

  • A woodworking bench (not technically a tool, I know)
  • Hammers
  • Chisels
  • Clamps
  • Levels
  • Hand saw
  • Woodworking planes
  • Cordless drill
  • Circular saw

Not so intimidating, right? Most of this stuff isn’t overly expensive – the circular saw is probably the mac daddy of the bunch, but even that is pretty basic in the grand scheme of things.

Without further ado, I give you the BuildEazy beginner toolbox.
