Note: This project is for the swinging seesaw unit only. If you do not have a beam to hang it off, then you can find plans for a
swing support frame here .

Step 1:

Cut all the pieces to the lengths and shapes as shown in the
cutting list .

Use 90mm x 45mm (1 1/2") stock for the frame pieces [a] and [b], and use
18mm (3/4") thick plywood for the seat [c].

Make sure all the wood that you use is suitable for outside use.

For the handles and foot rest [d], use 25mm (3/4') dowel (round wood) or pipe.

Then drill all the holes. The positions of the holes (apart from the seat) and hole sizes are given in the
cutting list drawing.
|
Step 2:

Mark and drill the two holes in piece [a].

Refer to the cutting list for hole sizes and hole positions.

Then mark where all the holes are to be drilled on pieces [b].
There are four pieces [b] in total.

Work on two pieces (one pair) at a time.

Lay one piece [b] on top of another piece [b] as shown in the picture.
|
Step 3:

Clamp the pairs [b] together.

Drill approximately halfway through.

Refer to the cutting list for the hole sizes.
|
Step 4:

Leave the clamps on and turn the pieces over.

Then drill all the way through from the top.

If all your markings are correct you should connect with the holes on the other side.
|
Step 5:

Take the clamps off.

Pack the pieces [b] apart with a block or an off-cut that is the same thickness as piece [a].

Hammer dowel [d] through the top two holes of each pair as shown in the picture.

Ensure that the dowel sticks out the same amount each side.
|
Step 6:

Lay the long piece [a] on a couple of sawhorses. Then place the two seats [c] on top of piece [a], one at each end.
Position the seats so that they overhang the ends by 50mm (2").
Then drill and bolt the seats [c] to piece [a].
Use 10mm (3/8") carriage bolts, two at each end.
